Welcome to NFPA's Fundamentals of Hydraulics 

This online resource will provide you with basic information about hydraulic technology and its applications. This resource was funded by the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) in cooperation with Festo Corporation. The Gates Corporation, Hägglunds Drives Inc., Wojanis Supply Company and Parker Hannifin Corporation provided the content review.

Fundamentals of Hydraulics is available at no charge to any Internet user, Mac or PC, with the proper browser plugins (Please make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Shockwave installed which you can download at the bottom of the page). This program utilizes video, animations, quiz questions, and text to deliver instruction to the user throughout a number of different lessons. Full motion video is used to illustrate the application of hydraulics in real-world situations, as well as to show the internal workings of hydraulic system components.
