National Fluid Power Association will serve as a forum
for the industry at IFPE 2008
The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) will have a strong presence at
IFPE 2008—The International Exposition for Power Transmission—being held March 11-15, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A
Gathering Place
The NFPA booth, centrally located on the IFPE show floor, will serve as a
gathering place for NFPA members and other IFPE attendees. NFPA members are invited to conduct small, informal meetings with their industry colleagues and customers in the NFPA booth. Several computers will also be available offering members the opportunity to check their email.
A special reception will also be held at the NFPA booth on Wednesday, March
12, at 5:00 PM, immediately following the close of the show.
All NFPA members are invited to attend the reception.
See
the Future of Fluid Power Television
The NFPA booth will also be the place for an advance peek at the fluid power promotional television program NFPA has produced in cooperation with 14 international fluid power organizations. The program was produced by Twin Cities Public Television and will be available for satellite download for broadcast on public television stations across the country and on iTunes for viewing around the world. The program not only demonstrates how essential fluid power technology is to modern life, through interviews and interesting video clips it makes the case that the technological advancements underway in the industry will dramatically shape our future for the better and provide exciting and rewarding careers.
A
Powerful Forum for the Fluid Power Industry
As the co-owner of IFPE and as an association with a diverse membership representing the full spectrum of the fluid power industry—hydraulic and pneumatic; large and small; manufacturer, supplier, distributor and educator—NFPA is achieving its mission of serving as a forum for all fluid power channel partners.
IFPE attendees and exhibitors will want to visit the NFPA booth to learn more about NFPA’s activities in support of its strategic plan, which are focused on three major areas:

1. Coming
together…Going further – NFPA is a forum for all
fluid power channel partners—achieving together what can’t
be accomplished alone.
- Manufacturer and Distributor members are working together to drive cost from the supply chain by adopting a standard format for data exchange (the PPIF, or
Product and Price Information Format), allowing increased efficiencies and better service to the customer.
- Supplier Council sponsored Solutions Workshops and Special Exhibits
are highlighting advances in materials and technology, helping the industry innovate and respond better to market forces.
- Educator/Industry Summits are bringing educators and industry together to tackle challenges and find solutions for enhancing fluid power education and develop our future workforce.
- Alliances with customer-based associations are providing opportunities for awareness and growth. Recruiting customers to attend NFPA meetings and participate in the development of NFPA standards keeps our industry responsive and engaged.

2. Promoting the industry…Growing our business – NFPA is the source for information regarding the fluid power industry, connecting with the world to help businesses grow.
- NFPA is collecting the most comprehensive statistics on the fluid power industry, information that helps our members measure performance, benchmark against competitors, and develop effective market plans.
- NFPA is leading the world in developing fluid power standards, helping to provide a common infrastructure to establish best practices, advance fluid power technology, and open new markets.
- Through IFPE and pavilions at other international trade
shows, NFPA is facilitating access to market opportunities across the globe, creating a positive image for the fluid power industry.
- NFPA is building customer market resources to identify and communicate opportunities for engagement and better connect our members with their core and emerging customers.

3. Advancing technology…Building our workforce – NFPA is an engine of change, investing in research and education to attract and build the talented workforce of the future.
- The Engineering Research Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid
Power, launched in part by NFPA, is raising the profile of fluid power in research and academics, translating its breakthroughs into product innovation and educational outreach.
- Working with 14 international fluid power organizations, NFPA is producing a
television program promoting rewarding careers in the fluid power industry to a worldwide audience of young people.
- Through a partnership with Project Lead the Way, we are creating fluid power content for cutting-edge high and middle school engineering curriculum, delivering it to thousands of schools around the country.
- In establishing the NFPA Education and Technology
Foundation, we are building a sustainable resource for funding research, education and recruitment programs in fluid power.
| A Meeting of International Fluid Power Leaders
at IFPE 2008 |
Once again, NFPA will host a meeting of leaders from fluid power associations around the world.
The International Fluid Power Summit will take place on Thursday, March 13. The Summit is a forum for the exchange of information on the fluid power industry worldwide and an opportunity for peer associations to identify global challenges facing the industry and work together to devise strategies to confront them. At past summit meetings, NFPA has been joined by representatives from many countries including Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
On March 13, NFPA will also host the International Statistics Committee meeting
where representatives from fluid power associations around the world will meet to discuss international statistical/data collection programs. |
