Beginning Tuesday afternoon, August 21 and continuing with a special session on Wednesday morning, August 22, NFPA continues to build on the momentum and success of education initiatives by hosting the fifth Educator/Industry Summit.

The 2007 Summit general session will feature an examination of the state of fluid power education at all levels: middle/high schools, technical schools and community colleges, and universities. Featured presentations include:
  • Building the Foundation: Richard Blais, Project Lead the Way

  • Sustaining Your Future Workforce: Marla Robinson, Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology
  • Fluid Power in Universities—Should there be a Degree? Panelists scheduled to discuss this question from both the industry and university perspectives include Paul Heney, Senior Editor of Hydraulics and Pneumatics magazine; Joe Kovach, Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Parker Hannifin; and Professor Kim Stelson, Director of the new Engineering Research Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power.
  • The Future of Fluid Power Technology—An Industry View: Sohan Uppal, Eaton Corporation

Poster Sessions presented by students, will again be an important feature of the Summit. The three, top-ranked posters will be given featured presentation time during the general session. Posters will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the fluid power industry
  • Representation of new or previously underutilized technologies
  • Speed of translation to a fluid power application
