In December, four schools received Fluid Power Challenge grants from the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation:
- Gardiner Public Schools, Gardiner, MT
- High Point Regional High School, Sussex, NJ
- King's Fork High School, Suffolk, VA
- Maury High School, Norfolk, VA

Challenge grants are given to help teachers introduce and teach fluid power in the classroom, with the eventual goal of entering teams in, or holding their own, NFPA Fluid Power Challenge events. The schools will use the gifts to help defray the cost of purchasing classroom exercise kits and other materials to teach hydraulics and pneumatics. “I have been teaching syringe movements for over 20 years,” said one of the grant recipients. “I am very excited to now use the fluid power kits in my classroom.”
Any school or educational institution may apply for a Fluid Power Challenge grant. Why not encourage your local middle or high school to apply? For further information, visit the Foundation web site at
