Kepner Products Company
recently celebrated 65 years of business with a special Founder’s Day luncheon at their facility in Villa Park, IL.  Mr. Hugh Kepner, founded the company in 1948 and has been at its helm ever since.  Recently, celebrating his 90th birthday, Mr. Kepner was on-hand to help celebrate this milestone.  In addition, to the 65th anniversary, 2013 also marks 50 years of continuous NFPA membership for Kepner Products Company.  During their tenure as members, Mr. Kepner served on the NFPA Board of Directors from 1965 to 1974.  During this time he was Board Chairman from 1971-72.  Pete Alles and Leslie Miller of the NFPA Staff were guests at the luncheon and presented Mr. Kepner with a plaque commemorating their 50 year commitment to NFPA.

Marmon/Keystone Corporation announced that after 45 years of service to the company, Marmon Distribution Services, Inc. president Norman Gottschalk Jr. has announced his retirement effective January 31, 2014. Current vice president of Marmon Distribution Services Alan Wilkinson has been selected as Gottschalk Jr.’s successor.

Sauer-Danfoss has officially changed its name to Danfoss and now operates as a new business segment called Danfoss Power Solutions within the Danfoss Group.

Sun Hydraulics Corporation declares 3rd quarter cash dividend of $0.09.

The NFPA Executive Committee—acting on behalf of the Board between Board meetings—has appointed Jon Goreham of Quality Control Corporation to fill the remainder of the Board Director term vacated by the resignation of Mike Scotese. That term will end on June 30, 2014.

NFPA staff members recently spent a day at the Milwaukee School of Engineering learning more about fluid power.  The one-day course entitled “An Overview of Hydraulic Systems,” was presented by Dr. Medhat Khalil, MSOE Director of Fluid Power Education and Research Development to staffers in order to improve their overall understanding of current fluid power technology. Knowledge gained during the course will enable them to better serve the NFPA membership.

According to Eric Lanke, NFPA CEO, “The MSOE Smart Trainers allowed staff to get their hands on actual fluid power components.  The course was informative and helpful—exactly what the NFPA staff was looking for to give us a better understanding of fluid power components and systems.”

Lynn Beyer is NFPA’s new Workforce Program Manager. She will be working to expand the Fluid Power Challenge program. Previously, Lynn worked in association marketing, event planning and program management.
