Technician Pathway

A Pathway for More Educated Fluid Power Technicians

To create more educated technicians, the NFPA and the NFPA Foundation conduct a number of student outreach and education programs designed to create a pathway into the fluid power industry. Many of these programs are being organized under the Fluid Power and Applied Mechatronics Training and Employment Network (FAMTEN), a workforce pathway that partners local technical colleges with industry partners and high school teachers.

  Action Challenge/Grant
Fluid Power Action Challenge – a design/build competition for middle school students that introduces fluid power in a format that is both fun and engaging.
  Fluid Power Robotics Challenge
NFPA will be offering one merit-based scholarship, for $40,000 ($10,000 per year for four years), to a high school senior who participates as part of a 2018 FIRST® Robotics or NRL Competition Team.

Laboratory Grants
Teaching & Laboratory Grants – money to establish teaching materials and state-of-the-art teaching laboratories that create fluid power programs at 2-year technical colleges.

Scholarships
NFPA supports funding opportunities for students enrolled in technical colleges and engineering schools to pursue their interests in fluid power careers.
