Hello again everybody, and welcome to the sixth entry in the NFPA Standards Roundup article series! Once a month, we will be releasing an article providing a high-level recap of the monthly activities.
From this point on, these articles will be more jargon-heavy and, in some cases, technical. If you have any questions about what these things mean, or interest in participating in this important task, please contact Ben Brown at bbrown@nfpa.com. Additionally, we are collecting video testimonials to demonstrate the value of the work we do. If you would like to participate, please reach out to Ben Brown at the email address above.
The major activity of April was a successful meeting for US TAG to SC 4 in Louisville. With nearly 30 engineers in attendance, and only minor technical difficulties, the meeting saw over 2 hours of passionate debate across many projects and issues. Some highlights include discussion regarding ISO/CD 8434-2, ISO/DIS 6162-1, as well as debate regarding larger organizational questions related to specific Working Groups in the Subcommittee. Finally, a hearty congratulations to Andrew Morgan of Parker Hannifin for being elected the Chair of this group!
May will be a very heavy month, with the In-Person Meetings taking place in Milan, Italy. Scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th, through Thursday, May 21st, 10 groups will be meeting to discuss all active projects and organizational questions. The Spring Cluster features meetings across pneumatics groups, the bulk of Working Groups under the Connectors Subcommittee (SC 4), and multiple others. If you have not already, please reach out to Ben Brown to confirm your attendance or participation.
On top of these updates, work is continuing across our 78 active projects (updates, new proposals, and systematic reviews) as usual. If you are interested in participating in Standard Development, either at the TAG or ISO level, please contact Ben Brown at bbrown@nfpa.com.
