NFPA Standards Roundup: February Recap and Insights

Written by Ben Brown | Mar 26, '26

Hello again everybody, and welcome to the sixth entry in the NFPA Standards Roundup article series! Once a month, we will be releasing an article providing a high-level recap of the monthly activities.

From this point on, these articles will be more jargon-heavy and, in some cases, technical. If you have any questions about what these things mean, or interest in participating in this important task, please contact Ben Brown at bbrown@nfpa.com. Additionally, we are collecting video testimonials to demonstrate the value of the work we do. If you would like to participate, please reach out to Ben Brown at the email address above.

While January was busy, February was quite slow, with very little in the way of new updates for ISO/TC 131. A reminder about the In-Person Meeting Cluster in Milan, Italy; TC 131/SC 4 and associated Working Groups, as well as key pneumatics groups, will be meeting for this event. Outreach has begun to US Members to confirm who will be attending these meetings in-person, and information pertaining to hotels and travel information has been provided on the ISO portal. Additionally, planning for US TAG to SC 4 is nearly complete.

While we were quiet in terms of meetings, February and Early March saw the closing of a large number of ballots and consultations, including 2 DIS/FDIS ballots, 17 SR Ballots, 4 WD Consultations, and 1 CD Consultation. Final decisions on these ballots will be coming in the near future. Thank you to everybody who participated in these events!

On top of these updates, work is continuing across our 69 active projects (updates, new proposals, and systematic reviews) as usual. If you are interested in participating in Standard Development, either at the TAG or ISO level, please contact Ben Brown at bbrown@nfpa.com.
