Hello again everybody, and welcome to the second entry in the new NFPA Standards Roundup article series! Once a month, we will be releasing an article providing a high-level recap of the monthly activities.
From this point on, these articles will be more jargon-heavy and, in some cases, technical. If you have any questions about what these things mean, or interest in participating in this important task, please contact Ben Brown at bbrown@nfpa.com
November was a bit calmer than October, with only one meeting taking place for SC 6/WG 2. This was the highly anticipated meeting mentioned in our previous Standards Roundup. With 34 participants from 8 countries, the technical experts were able to reach consensus on the contents and strategy for a wide range of standards, including (but not limited to): ISO 11171, the ISO 11943 series, and the ISO 21018 series. Thank you to everybody who participated and contributed to these important decisions!
We also saw the closure of several ballots, which are listed (with results) below:
- SC 5 (Control Products [Valves]):
- Resolution C 5/2025 (Appointment of Convenor) – Approved
- ISO 11727:1999 SR – Approved with Comments
- SC 6 (Contamination Control [Filters]): ISO/FDIS 4407.2 – Approved
- SC 9 (Installations and Systems): ISO/PWI 25168 Comments – Comments have been submitted for review
Please note, we have several active ballots that will be closing in December and early January. Remember to submit a vote by the deadline if you want to contribute to this effort. A list of active ballots with deadlines is below (please note the due dates are for US participants, there may be variation in different countries):
- SC 4 (Connectors [Couplings]) :
- ISO/DIS 18869 (Ed 2): January 5th
