Successful First Event with New Power Partner University, Cal Poly

Last month, NFPA celebrated the launch of our newest Power Partner University, California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, by hosting our first ever industry-connection event on campus. Cal Poly earned its place in the Power Partner program through its strong commitment to fluid power education, including a robust curriculum and active participation in programs such as the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge, the Fluid Power Club, and the Speakers Bureau.

Held on November 19 and co-hosted with Cal Poly’s Agricultural Engineering Society (AES), the event brought together four NFPA member
companies: Motion Industries, PTI Technologies, Hydraulic Controls, and Sun Hydraulics. Representatives from each company provided presentations introducing their organizations and industry focus. Following a networking dinner, students engaged with company representatives in a career-fair–style session, where they learned more about each company and explored potential internship and career opportunities. The event drew 65 students, including participants from the Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge team.

Students shared that the event was highly informative, offering valuable insight into the fluid power industry and the broad range of career paths available. NFPA members were equally enthusiastic, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to meet so many engaged students and to strengthen connections with the university.

Thank you to our member companies for their support and participation. To learn more about upcoming events, including those at our newest Power Partner Universities  (the University of Houston (TX) and Kennesaw State University (GA), visit our website.
